Rites of the Black Mass 2018

RomexpoX, București

18-20 October '18

This event is over.

We are beyond excited to announce that legendary Swedish doom metal pioneers Candlemass will perform in Romania after more than 10 years from their previous show. The band will be one of the headliners of the third edition of Rites of the Black Mass set to take place between 18th and 20th of October 2018.

The band celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015 and since then vocalist Mats Levén has joined the Doom Metal Squad as a permanent member. The discography of Candlemass features more than one genre classic such as highly acclaimed records Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986) and its successor Nightfall (1987). Expect genuine, doom metal with heavy riffs and vocals that blow your mind at this year edition of the festival.

Marduk will mark their return to Bucharest after 6 years and will be headlining the first night of the festival.

Sweden’s MARDUK are not only one of the most long running and respected black metal acts out there, but also one of the most productive. The quartet have never ever delivered a weak album and never wavered from their path of utter blasphemy and misanthropic contempt.

Black metal right in your face, uncompromising, evil and brutal, that’s what the band will deliver at Rites of the Black Mass, so watch out!

Mesopotamian thrashing black metal innovators Melechesh will return to Romania after the shows performed in 2017 together with Immolation during their European Tour.

Embody black metal mixed with traditional music of the Middle East built around addicting riffs. Taming us with the atmospheric parts, the combo does not forget to punish us with vicious attacks.

The band will present a special show during ROTBM 2018, more details are going to be presented in the coming weeks.

Secrets of the Moon are amongst the longest-serving Black Metal bands in Germany. They have been giving fresh impetus to the scene with every new release ever since, consolidating their reputation as an influential and style-defining band.

Secrets of the Moon will bestow a monument of dark metal upon us for the very first time in Bucharest during the third edition of the festival and will present their set on the second day of the festival.

With over two decades of Black Metal under their belts, Ragnarok are no strangers to live appearances the band will return to Bucharest after 7 years.

With Ragnarok having celebrated over twenty years in the business, the band’s eighth full-length album “Psychopathology” released in the spring of 2016, as well as “Chaos and Insanity Between 1994-2004” retrospective compilation album titled titled “Chaos and Insanity Between 1994-2004”, it’s clear that one of Norway’s longest serving bands is continuing to go from strength to strength.

Swedish Viking/Black metal heathens, Thyrfing will perform for the first time in Romania during 18th and 20th of October.

Thyrfing derives its name from tales of Scandinavian myth and lore of a royal and deadly blade (Tyrfing), forged by The Dwarves, and cursed to kill a man every time unsheathed.

Thyrfing have delivered their very own brew of metal music since 1995 and after six full-length albums and numerous live performances the band have gained a strong and exquisite standing within the metal scene, considered one of the top bands of their genre.

During the third edition of Rites of the Black Mass bands like, Temple of Baal (France), Deahtrow (Italy), Kult (Italy) Altarage (Spain), Stahlsarg (UK), Mortis Mutilati (France), De Vermis Mysteriis (Belgium), Pensees Nocturnes (France), Victim Path (Belarus), Fausstophel (Ukraine) will be present for the first time in Romania while Inferno (Czech Republic), Darkened Nocturn Slaughercult (Germany) are scheduled to return to Bucharest after their very well received shows performed in 2016 and 2015.
